93 325i coupe, guy says there's an 96 m3 swap in it... it's still automatic. valve cover does not say m power on it. how can i tell what engine it is?

Probably. The only way to be sure is by the engine serial number off the block, I believe.

where does that live?

I have read that it can be found on the right (passenger) side of the block, possibly under the headers.

hmmmm... that helped a little but pretty much answered my question... there's no way to tell externally huh?

chances are probably pretty good that if the guy had swapped an M motor he'd have the M valve cover on it. It wouldn't make sense otherwise.. take it for a spin.. = ) see if it feels M worthy.

what if i've never driven a stock one? how would i know if it's m worthy?
