hey guys im new to this forum, and this will be my 1st question probs 1st of many...im wondering how i can get more power from my 318 auto...its running 18s at the mo and thats all i have done well apart from a m3 front bumper and lowered....thats it and now im after more power how will i do this...
That's a really bad combination. The 318 motor is already quite underpowered, having the auto and the heavier convertable body kills the whole experience. I wouldn't put anything larger than 17" wheels on a 318, it will slow the car down considerably. Personally, if you want more performance don't bother swapping anything, sell the car and buy another one. If you have some money to spend and you really like your convertable, try getting a Downing Atlanta Supercharger. They sell for $3400US right now.

but i have though of a chip filter and s/s full system....
what type of power gain am i lookign at with.....im not after a huger amount of power just a ickle as im only 20 and i would rather crusing everywhere with the top down than speed and not get noticed. lol B)
you can only chip it if it is a 95 or older...other than that, you have to have it professionally remapped or sharked (but rumor has it that sharking doesn't do much on a 318)
Intake and exhaust are definitely a start...

yeah start with the basics, but on the side note, so you cant chip a 95 above? is that due to the obdII or what? so instead of chipping a 95 above you shark it?
hey
yes david, pre 96 cars can be chipped, and post can be sharked ( a term used to bascially chip the ecu and reprogram it)

okay thats useful thanks, but can a pre 96 car be sharked also? or only chipped?
How about a turbo, I have 318i with CAI, I dont want an exhaust cause I hate the sound, and sharking is'nt worth it. Are there any complete turbo kits for 318i auto tranny.
