Any solution for the hood latches not wanting to return to their closed position?

I've tried lubricants, but no luck. If cable needs replacing, need help in install.

Thanks in advance

ya, mine also kind of sticks out now. I think at first the latch would be kind of hidden in the grill, but now it keeps sticking out
