so my 92 325i in 5th gear doing 55 my rpms are at 3200...now that seems pretty high or is that how the car is suppose to be, done to it is chip, m3 exhaust, and intake...also i noticed when it idles, it idles around 500-600 rpms and it feels like its cammed but when i go to go it doesnt stutter or bog or anything its smooth, whats could cause the high rpms and the 500-600 idle
aslo a guy from bimmer forums said "Wrong diff ... sounds like you might have a 3.91 (from an automatic car) instead of the 3.15 it's supposed to have ..."
ok so..today, i was driving and doing 55 in 5th it was around 2900-3000 rpms, maybe i was wrong ebfore didnt really pay attention but isnt that still a little high?
Wow, what happened to all the nice people? I would look into a different differential. Maybe the stock one got swapped out for a limited slip. Lucky you have half shafts and don't have to get a whole rear end.
look around on craigslist for parts cars. you would be surprised for what comes up on the e36. but it does sound like you have a different differential?
