ok, my car's got a problem with the heating system, and I am not sure it's a cheap one. If I get in my car, let it warm up, and when it eventually reaches regular driving temp. on the gauge i turn the heat on with both climate knobs up all the way, I get heat mainly out of my passenger side, and no heat comes out of the drivers side dash vent, floor, or windshield vent. and when I come to a long light and have to stop for a while, the heat in the passengers side starts turning cool.. but when i start driving again it heats up again. I thought maybe it could be the climate control unit that broke maybe, but I also noticed a while ago that my anti-freeze was really dark and dirty looking even though i changed it earlier this year. and yes I did change the thermostat this spring too. any of you ever ran across a heating problem like this? I was going to consider getting the cooling system flushed maybe but needed some extra advice. thanks guys.

thanks mark, I am going ahead and getting the system flushed tommorow just because I have been talking about getting that done over this past year. If that doesn't clear it up then I am going to start looking into the climate controls.

I've heard that there is a vlave the diverts coolant tothe heater core. When that valve starts to go bad it sometimes doesn't flow while rpms are low. Could be your problem.

do you know what the valve is called? or where I could find this valve in my mechanics manual? I'd like to check into that some more.

Sounds like your problem lies here - that is too much of a coincidence if you ask me

I can't find link to the article. I'll look through my service manual and see if I can find the official part name.

It does sound like your problem though. Sounds like there isn't enough coolant pressure to keep the defective valve open at idle, but enough pressure once you get some RPMs going.
