i have a 318is and when i start out from a stop or when i make a hard right turn with power, there is one hell of a vibe that goes through the whole car. it feels like the drive train is rubbing. could the motor mounts be bad enough that they are letting the motor rub? or did i break something farther back? the car had 141K on it. any thoughts?
How would I know if my motor mounts are broke. Do you have a pic of where they are and how you replaced them. I have some shaking too and I would like to investigate this a little more.

i saw the hydrolic fluid in the mount on the right side of the motor (M44). the left mount is hard to see from the top. both mounts are pretty visable and you can def. get feel around them from under the vehicle. both sides are just inside of the A arm. there are a lot of signs than just the vibs. my MAS comes unsnapped alot. i have had to replace most of the intake boots due to excessive movement and age. i have had to patch my air pump duct many times due to the movement. plus my center driveline bushing was intact.
DUDE< this threat is freaking great. This is what its about. i was just about to post the question about this very thing. My car is giving me a vibration when I hit the gas in first gear and sometimes second at low RPMS. I keep having to reconnect my intake boot to the intake box. Now I know fore sure I have bad motor mounts. Thanks!
Were did you purchase your new Motor Mounts?

Wish I would have read this sooner. I saw my motor mounts and it was being held by the bold itself as the cushion was completely cracked. Cant wait to put these suckers on so I can see the difference. I purchased mine at
you will need two jacks and you will have to jack the motor up almost too far for comfort. the right one is the only one that i wanted to do after i looked at the left one. it is buried...kind of the same situation that the starter was when i did that. you can barely see it let alone getting to it. i totally didn't have the patients to take two hours on that one side
New Motor Mounts installed this Saturday. Wasnt so bad actually only took about an hour. I just got my car back from the body shop (got the OEM M3 Bumper Conversion, looks sweet pics to follow). Since getting that done I had to get my hood fixed due to a bad motor mount it engine lifted up and put a nice ding on my hood another sign was my intake boot would keep coming off. When I took the motor mounts off they were broken in peices. I have to say though its a poor design for a motor mount. If you serious hit the gas hard in a turn those motor mounts dont seem like they would hold up at all.
Anyhow new motor mounts in and the car is like new, no shaking no noises, its great!
hey i think im in the same position, my engine vibrates abit too much. i have a 98 328i. any pics on where i can look as im kinda clueless but really want to solve this prob. the parts cheap $45 per mount.
