Can anyone PLEASE help me..I'm lost on this one. My wife's 328ic will start then suddenly die. I figured it was the fuel pump and relay..replaced them;same thing. My code reader gives me nothing. The check engine light IS on. It will start if I can pat the throttle and keep it going, but it will NOT stay at idle.Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks Rick
If it starts, but wont idle its probably your ICV. Idle Control Valve. When it gets clogged or worn out it prevents the car from idleing, forcing the driver to give it constant throttle to prevent stalling.
Hey Lord, Thanks for the reply. It's a '97 328ic and I think it has unstopped itself!! Have you ever seen or heard of one doing that?? I pulled the engine covers off & checked all the vacuum hoses for cracks & fitment...started it up & she died..started again with pressure on the throttle & a slight spit came out of engine compartment..don't know where..and she's run fine ever since...who know's. Anyway thanks again...very helpful. Happy motoring, Rick
