I got a real issue to deal with. My handle to my hood release cable snapped off, leaving me unable to pop my hood. I removed the kick panel and the original lever mechanism. I was originally going to only replace the lever. However, after doing so it was still impossible to pop the hood. So my first problem is getting the hood up. My second problem is figuring out how to release the cable from the lock mechanism under the hood. What do i have to remove to access this after i manage to get the hood up. I talked to service at Ralph Schomp BMW and they wanted $581 in labor...OUCH. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks
LT

bang the center of the kidney grill and it will disassemble. Then using a long screw driver through the kidney grill opening you can machanically release it.
