Help! my E36 doors wont open it got double locked.
I having a big Problem my 97 M3 coupe doors wont open at all on both doors for the past week i have been getting in and out thru my windows i think the double locked system got activated now doors wont open, i tried to open with my key and wont let me turn to unlock or lock . The day this locking happen i was able to get in thru my trunk it was the only way to get in. when i was in i thought i was able to open doors by pulling the inside handles but nothing handles wouldn't open them.
I have been trying that what you said the problem is that I think my key is too old and worn so its daul I always had trouble with my key to unlock and lock my doors especially the driver side. I think I'm gonna have to Oder a new key and look into the cylander if it's also worn.
My original key is pretty worn out and it still unlocks the doors. It could be a problem with the Central Locking system. The module is behind the glovebox. If I remember correctly its the one with two connectors. Open the door and turn they to lock the door. Do you hear a sound? Should be able to hear the actuator.
My key fob doesn't work I replace the battery on the fob a wile back and tried re-programming it but had no luck.
I looked it over again today I don't here any sound under the glove box or from the actuater i dont know too much about electrical or relays so at this point im not sure what to do my best bet is to take it over to the BMW dealer.. Thanks guys for the help hopefully this gets solve soon
The dealer will be really expensive. I asked them how much they would charge to did a door lock problem and they quoted me $200 just to take the door panel off!! Not even find the problem. That's ridiculous. Their are a number of DIYs on how to take the door panel off and fix relegated issues. I'm not very good at electrical issues but oh you can bet I'm willing to learn now!
