I've got a 1992 320I E36. I have a set of 20s which im trying to fit on the car. The back fit fine (just) and the front wont fit as they touch the strut bar..
If i put spacers on then they will stick out too far and touch the guards and i won't be able to lower it..(which i need to do)
We have already tried hammering the strut to make them fit in and it didn't move at all...
It's more that the wheel actually can't fit under the strut. Therefore i would need like a 50mm spacer which would push the wheel too far out and then the nuts wont be long enough to hold the wheel on and i wont be able to roll the guards that much...
Do later year BMWs have different struts?? Maybe i could get the struts off a later year...??
i tried something crazy like this on my 530i lol to fit 22s , me & the boys at the workshop swaped the left and right front shocks around thus moving the strut plates out of the way... but i dont recomend it because after all the hard work the wheels turned to be to heavy and i set bye bye to my diff i suggest u put a nice set of 19s with a big dish and drop it to the floor but hey thats just my 2 cents lol , happy dubing =]
