A dealer was trying to tell me some crap about how they lengths and weights differ or something and the best model is a 323...
btw.. im talking about any iS, obviously they will be different from 2 to 4 doors, i was under the impression all that differed was the hood power?? |
All e36 3-series have the exact same demensions as far as I know. Correct me if i'm wrong, but they are all i dentical, including the e36 m3 for the most part, but the m3 has a few differences that don't affect width and length of the car. For instance, i believe the m3 has different wheel base lengths and the wheels in the front are a very small amount closer towards the front end and vice versa for the rear wheels. I believe i read that in my manual. All so the factory ride height of the m3 is (i think) around an inch lower than all of the other 3-series in the e36 series. These small diffences don't affect the overall demensions of the car at all tho, so i'm not sure exactly what kind of crap this dealer was trying to feed you. If anyone knows please fill us in because i would like to know as well.
about the weights, obviously they will differ slightly, a more power engine usually (most cases) weighs more than one of less power, also for the convertibles they weigh more for other reasons than the engine, structural changes add weight to them. They are built to with stand impact the same as the 'i' and 'is' models so they are built alittle beefier.
lastly, i was under the impression that the lengths of the 2 doors and 4 doors were the same, with differences only in distances between the wheels front to back, i maybe wrong tho. please correct me if i am.
hope this helps some, i'm learning with the rest of you! cheers
