Help Heating Ventilation Not Working

Hi, i have a 320i E36

It has no air conditioning and the fan only works on the 4 position, 1,2 and 3 don't work.
Any ideas anyone?

maybe the final stage unit which controls the blower speed.

Almost certainly the final stage relay... About $100 to repair replace

I've got to replace mine too, it's starting to get annoying. Car won't blow heat for about ten minutes, then blows fine. I've just been living with it, but it sucks if the windshield starts to fog!

Do a search...a guy posted a perfect DIY for this problem...I just fixed mine a month ago...the part was $110 from Bavauto and it took about 15 minutes to install (start to finish)...yeah...its an easy one that the stealer wanted $250 for!

I just haven't had the money to buy the part yet. I will in another week or so though. $110 isn't to bad to fix. Was it hard to find it under the dash or does it jump right out at ya?

The DIY that I was referring to, the guy posted pics...but also, it's one of those things where once you see the part in your hand, you can find it...the only odd tool you need is a TORX bit...(i forget the number, but it is also in the DIY)...

the hardest thing about the whole job is squeezing your upper body under the dash!!!!

squeezing under the dash is the part I'm worried about. I have a ruptured L4/L5 disc, so bending my back into odd positions while under the dash may be a little painful.
