HELP! car won't start!

I live in Dallas, Texas and lately its been raining heavily down here. I got in my car and started to drive today. It started up fine and I drove for about 5 blocks when I started to notice the battery light on my instrument cluster begin to come on faintly. It would come on and then flicker off and then come on again. At about the same time I decided to turn around because the street was pretty badly flooded. The water was probably 4 inches deep when I turned around. I almost made it back to my apartment when the car just died completely. The lights work fine, and every thing sounds and looks normal but the engine will not turn over.
The cranking sound that the car normally makes when you try to start it sounds normal as well it just will not turn over. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated

probably ur alternator. cant charge batt. have both tested at napa, or other parts place.

to check, turn on tour lights, have someone stand in fornt of car
turn on car(try to) if lts dim when turning on, ist most likely alt.
only get a BOSCH alt. lifetime warranty, easy to put in yourself,
saves u lots of $$$$$

let me know if u have problems.
also: when putting in a new alt. mase sure your batt. is FULLY charged/perfect, or it will degrade the life of both parts.
