Help With Aftermarket Taillights

I bought some red/clear tail lights about a month ago and when I first put them on I had this Brake circuit failure or something. I read the instructions and ripped something off and got that fixed. Now its come back. Does any one know how to fix this? The Brake Circuit Failure doesnt go away and the check light stays on. its really annoying!! Thanks

that sounds like a dead sensor, common E36 problem. It's more trouble to fix than it's worth, trust me.

i think only my window brake light works now... what should I do? I swaped the bulbs and it was the same problem so thats out of the question. Are there any suggestions? Thanks alot.

I have a brake light fail all the time...buit it's just the code...my brake lights work fine...so I don't worry about it.

I have the same problem although it is not eery time i drive. I have the original OEM tail lights in still too.

Could be a bad brake light switch. It's under the dash above the brake pedal. I get the same failure from time to time, but my lights work. Diy somewhere in the forum.

The "Brake Circuit Failure" message is due to a faulty brake switch. Cheap part - like $30 - and SO easy to fix - 15 min total.

nevermind I just took the bulbs out and jiggled it a little, then I switched the sides of the adapters for the bulbs and its fine.
