I have a little problem....my car is telling me that something is wrong with the brake light circut .....does anyone know where its at....or how to fix it or.....how much it costs....well let me know....thnx

I have the same problem, it either says brake light circuit or 1 tailight failure, on the same car but my taillights work fine. I've read something about the type of bulbs causing the error even though there is no problem.

u should make shure cuz sometimes it works but other times it won't so be careful about breaking......

Yeah, Im having the problem with my fog lights on my e34, I need to check all of the contacts and clean em. They work fine.

what do you think about getting fog lights off of ebay? do you think they will be good....or should I look somewhwere else?

Hmm. Not really sure. If you go the ebay route, make sure they are OEM replacement. I had to replace one of mine because the lens was cracked and I was luck to find a used original from Ebay. If you see a set you like, dont be afraid to ask the seller questions. Make sure it has the stock mounting locations. I was looking at a set on there (ebay) and looking at the picture, the mounting didnt look anything like mine. If you buy some and dont like them, you can always turn around a resell them on Ebay as well. Or just keep a watch out for some used ones like I did. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Depending on the code its the following:

Circuit Failure is often the brake light switch on the pedal. The contacts get burnt and arch. This causes a fault in the computer and throws the message. Easy fix..........replace the switch. This will fail but still work the brake lights. I can always tell when mine is going bad, I hear the contacts make a disturbance in the AM radio.

Tail light failure. This is often a bulb out or not making contact and often intermittant. The E36 has a common problem where the bulb socket wears out (the elec contacts) or the tail light assemble actually gets a hole burnt thru the circuit board often cause by a failing bulb socket. Fix is to replace them.
