Heatshield ran away....

Hey folks.

Got a 97 316i and was trundling along home when my exhaust heat shield decided it'd had enough and jumped off the car..... im completely heat shieldless now... from top of the exhaust to the bottom.

Is this any way dangerous... i.e. am i gonna combust into flames while driving or will it do any damadge to the car?

eh shouldn't have much to worry about i don't think. I don't think i've a one left on my car.

I wouldn't be overly worried as stated; but you may wanna get another as warmer weather returns.

cheers lads.... was gettin a bit worried.
Still have a bit i managed to salvage around the cat converter.... it seemed to be closest to the body and hottest. It'll be a another trip to the scrap yard for the rest.
