I have a problem with the heater blower in my '93 325.
Sometime it works all of a sudden while I am driving, but sometime I can drive for hours and it wouldn't start.
My mechanic told me that it could be the motor, but how come sometime is working?
Is there something else or do you think I should change the motor? How hard it is to get it out?
thanks
hmmm, i'd be interested in this solution as well. A few weeks ago my blower would only work on 4. Since then it has been working fine but seems like it can crap out at anytime..

check your heater resistor packet.
This little thing has resistor on it, so that it regulates the speed of the blower. if you get no blower action, or sometimes just on the 4 setting, this is it.
open the plastic cover on top of your leg, where the pedals are. then youll see the heater box there. Look on the bottom part rear of it, there should be a small black part with a clip on it and some 3/4 wires..
i do not have the pic, but look for this on bentley manual or google. if you look for the part on the net, there should be a pic of how it looks and so to give an idea of what is it.
.
I have a question..
Do you guys get hot air on the center vent and cold, or way cooler air coming form the side compared to the center. My car the center vent is hot, and the sides blow cold air. Is this a heater valve issue???
thanks
Yes that is the resistor up there, but when is installed, you will only see the end of it where the wires plug into it. so you see a black square thing with the wire on it.
ON my car, a 1993 325i, the resistor packet is on the driver side, and i really think it is the same for all, since on the glove compartment all that you can acces there is the microfilte, wich i recommend you getting it since youll be in there, well on the other side of it, but you get the picture.
Also im pretty sure this resistor is on the driveers side. just look good, it should be towards the front of the car, near the firewall.
if i can find a pic, ill post it.
Have fun...
