When I have the "auto" button on, the heater will turn off randomly.. the "auto" light will remain on but it's like theres no power. Any ideas? Hope it's not a whole new heater problem.

Also, the light in the back of the stereo is starting to blank out too!!

And a last thing... I want to put spacers on my car.. I've got 17" wheels, I wanna stagger it with 25mm on the back and 20mm in the front. What kind of problems might that cause? Any help would be great! Thanks.

I had that same problem with the heater... you need to take it to the dealer and havem replace your heater fan and some other stuff... cost me a fortune for that pos.... lol my stereo light is fadin away slowly but surely... best bet is to look on ebay for a stereo.. a lot cheaper.

It's your heater blower motor resistor.
There are 2 different types depending if you have manual or automatic A/C.
My 96 318i had the exact same problem and replacing the resistor fixed it.
