Heated seat is intermittent

Greetings all... I have a 1994 325is. The drivers seat is quite worn, and the heater in the seat seems to be intermittent... sometimes I feel no heat at all, the other day it started heating after about 10 minutes, this morning it was closer to 30 before I felt anything, sometimes it does not heat at all... What should I look for in an effort to fix this problem... is there a part that wears out, faulty wiring, bad switch... any help would be appreciated...

Look for bad or lose conections, frayed wires, or shorted connections. Given the age of the car, it is always possible that the heating element is simply on its last legs.

Thanks for the input... I wasn't sure if this was a common problem, or just mine wearing out... I'll check around and see what I find...
