Heated Mirrors- Quick Question

How can i tell if i have heated mirrors or not, I'm wanting to order my new mirror tonight and I have the choice between heated and non heated

turn your ignition to the second position, wait 5 minutes if their not really hot then you dont have them. = they will have 2 wires connected to the actual mirror

Why is it always on? I live in a country where it is always HOT!
Does BMW know sth that we don't?

First time i discovered those heated mirrors, i tought some sensors were bad, but ppl say its normal. They are "ALWAYS-ON"...

Why?

Or how do i disable the heating? or should i?
