Hi

Is it normal to have the headlights on including the rear lights, when I put the ignition on?
The headlight switch is on position 0 but when I put the ignition they turn on including the back lights...

Hope it doesn't sound too stupid

92 BMW 325i

I have seen at other BMW they only have the "inner" light turned on while driving but no back ones...

Could it be a short somewhere, or I am worring for nothing

thanks.

yeah...it's cool.
The parking lights should come on when your dash lits up 1st and the rear lights come on as well. Also your brake lights work even though the light is in the 0 position.

Actually when I start my car my exterior headlights and rear lits come on and then go off until I switch the switch from 0 to parking lights, or full lights.

ok this is not happening in my car...
they come on and stay on after I start driving and the switch is on 0 position.
Could it be a faulty switch?

I am from Toronto man! and yes is a e36

DRL (Daytime Running Lights). Since you are in Toronto, I think your car equipped with DRL.

The 92 E36 was the first model that was either US or Canadian Spec.....where as before they were North American spec. Since they were the first run of Canadian spec models and day time running lights were mandatory, BMW just installed a relay which automatically turned on the lights (front and back). In late 93 this was changed for the, what is now normal DRL, that light up in front only, during daylight conditions.
