Head unit problems

Hey All

I've just purchased a 2000 328ci and really happy with it apart from the fact that when listening to the Head unit it sounds like your wearing EAR MUFFS!!! there's an after market head unit already installed but iv been reading online that the best fix is to bypass the factory amp and there are others telling me that I shouldn't...I'm not looking for any major upgrade,just a good quality sound...Ive got a (Sony Xplod CDX-GT170) Head unit and using the factory speakers and amp.

anything easy and cheap would be a life saver and ear saver!

Call Crutchfield.com, sounds like the after market HU was installed to the stock amp without using a PAC OEM-4 Universal sound system interface & controller.
This allows you to correctly replace the factory premium radio with an after market HU & retain the use of the factory amplifier & speakers.
