I hit 100k yesterday! woo! anyway, I have a check engine light on, and I had it scanned. It seems like its emmissions. Besides the O2 Sensors, what other emmisions parts should I replace?
I reset the CEL and it returned with just the P1421 and P1423 code. I researched the web and found that on the BMW, this is the secondary air pump for cylinders 1-3 that provides air to the exhaust during warm up. According to others, this may be due to a check valve stuck open or closed. Or, it could also be a leak in the output hose or a vacuum hose to the valves. The vacuum line runs close to the engine causing it to get brittle and crack. This 30 cents hose can cause the valve to stay closed, keeping water in the pump and eventually, corrosion to occur. I'll work on it over the weekend and post my results.
i hit 100k last week also... it sort of feels good and bad... good that it is still running strong at 100k... bad that it may need more maintenance now...
I know what you mean with mileage. My e34 had 290k miles on it. I bought my e36 with 70k. 70k miels in 10 years sounds good to me. Sucks ot have high mileage though, always gonna run into maintainence ot little pieces of plastic cracking and making things difficult.
