Hey guys,I have been trying to find this out for a while no-one can seem to aswer this? So I try here
Its kinda hard to explain but when I bought my 97 328is the hanling wasn't that great! the problem comes when the car trys to steer it self on the road for example: if I drive into a slight hollow on one side of the car (uneven road surface) the car darts off in this direction this is all at the speed limit 100km!! I pre owned a E30 and I have to say the E30 probably could handle the road surface a hell of a lot better than my 328, this got me thinkin that there may be somthing wrong with the tow in tow out? but I have checked that several times,
the car when I brought it was lowered to around 2 inches off the ground,"stupied low" so I raised it to just 32mm lowering springs and high repition short stroker shokes in the front , this makes the car handle excemptionally well I could almost go as far to say that it handles as well as my dads "911" but it still darts all over the road? I have a really good friend that is a BMW technician he can't find anything wrong with the car it self, so I was looking at tires, the tires are almost brand new think there 255/16/50 maybe there to wide for the car
the car has only done 60km so I don't think that any bushes are worn but could be, can anyone say weather or not they have experianced this problem and if so how did you go about fixing it? f u fixed it?
mabye the short hard springs slightly bent the A arms??
anyway need help to try and rectify this problem, because it upsets me that my baby keeps trying to hurt me!!

right front bushing was SHOT on my 98 323is, I have 225/16/50 tires (maybe 16.5, not sure).
I replaced the LCA bushings with M3 bushings last saturday and that fixed alot of my problems, but I DID notice a bit more tramlining and increased difficulty keeping the car stright as I did before, NOT a huge increase but noticeable. I know my rear shock mounds and rear traling arm bushings need replacing [im experiencing rear steering effect] but I havn't gotten around to it. I had a mechanic do it (and a brakejob and A\C repair) over last week since I was on vacation. I don't know if he gave me an alignment or just replaced the bushings and hoped everything was A-OK.....
Yes, Wide tires and suspinsion that's not designed for wide tires does increase tramlining. Misalignment can also F*$#& things up, + it always feels good to have a fresh alignment.
My car does it too. It's not only the tire size, but also the tires themselves. It's not an indication of them being bad or anything it's just the tread pattern and the way they grip. My tires follow EVERYTHING in the road. It was a bit difficult at first, but after a week of driving I didn't notice it as much.

thanks guys I had a funny feeling it may be the tyres, I try and change them to somthing better when they wear out, that is exactly what its doing though (tramlining) I have gotten a little use to it but still pissies me off, I cheared myself up today by buying a radar detctor
What kinda tyres you guys using on 16's
I guess im a noob too.... i assumed it was the tires but i didnt know everyone had that problem :P
