Hammering idle noise

maxslomoff Neutral Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Car: Posts: 57 Photos:	Hammering idle noise i have a 325is from 1995 with 170k miles on it just recently i noticed a hammering noise when idling or driving at low rpms. any idea what this means? the car still seems to run fine and doesn't make the noise at higher rpm's. but it used to have a nicer purrrrr when idling. thanks max

Have you popped the hood when this happened and checked to see what area the noise is coming from?
