So as soon as I get out of school for the summer I'm going to purchase an H&R cup kit. I'm also going to buy new rear shock mounts and reinforcement plates as well as the tms strut tower reinforcement plates. Is there anything else that is necessary, besides the alignment when i'm done, for this job.

yeah i plan on the x brace and sway bars on down the road, and i already have the strut tower mount. The shocks are a necessity so i figured while i have it apart throw the springs on. I have read that bilstein actually makes the shocks for the h&r kit, does anyone know if there is truth in this?

I'm not sure if they make them, but I think I read in the paper work that came with my brother's kit from there that they had a lifetime warrantee on the shocks.

The cup kit is awesome from H&R. We installed in on my bro's '91 190E 2.6, I think he got them off of tirerack and they said it would be like an inch and a half drop. It ended up being like 2Ľ inches. So you might want to have the biggest rubber inserts from ontop of the springs just in case it puts the wheels up in the fenders too far. For how low that car is those springs ride great and handle awesome on the track. Looks cool too.

PS... awesome car Andrew

I was thinking about getting the bmw factory x-brace like the one on bavarian auto. However, my friend/mechanic and his technician said that they are basically worthless. They can't really tell a difference after they install one on a car. I'm sure it helps slightly but should not be considered a serious upgrade or mod. I would save the money and put it towards better sway bars, because you will really notice a huge difference in sway bars. Or poly eurathance bushings for the sway bars if they don't come with them (I know they are noisy but I think they would make a bigger difference than the x-brace) If any one has an x-brace installed I would like to hear what you think and if you agree with my assesment of the x-brace.

ive actually asked a few people, and most say that koni and H&R are a better setup ,i was originally gonna go wiht H&R and bilstien but after talking to a few different parts dealers and senior members on this forum and other forums i got the general concensus that koni perform and feel better than bilstein.
i dont know the validity to this so i have no real explaination, its just word of mouth.

I have koni shocks with Eibach springs on my car and I am very satisfied with that setup. That is also what the people at tirerack.com recommend.

Thanks for all the input guys, just wanna make sure there are no oem parts that I need to replace besides what I have mentioned. As for the xbrace i have heard great stories about it. The difference felt with the strut tower brace was amazing i can only imagine that having the whole chassis held togehter like that will be even better.

you might think about replacing your bump stops. They keep you spring and struts from hitting stuff wheen your car is about to bottom out.
mine are basically torn apart. But when I was replacing my struts I didn't have replacements so there still messed up. My right front one is almost non existant and with new shocks it bottoms out on bad speed bumps.
