Grinding noise coming from rear driver-side wheel

Hey fellas, long time, no talk. I've been experiencing an annoying grinding sound coming from the rear driver-side wheel area. I've taken the wheel off, checked the dust shield and have found no loose parts at all. It seriously sounds like something is grinding away, very awful, but no other problems than sound. Could it be a bearing? I need to get rid of the noise, fast. Hate it. Thanks in advance.

I want to replace it, but is it an emergency repair that needs to be made ASAP?

That's the plan, but does it need to be done immediately, or can I still drive for a few days?

Your fine to drive for awhile. I drove a couple hundo miles on a bearing that had a good size chunk cracked out. I wouldn't drive fast or anything, but i think your definitely fine for a couple days.

Cool. I just dropped it off at the shop. I'll find out tomorrow what the problem is. My mechanic said it could also be the axle shaft...I wouldn't know if that's common, but he said it was. I'll keep you updated, if you even care at all.....

Good idea to have the parts replaced. It's easy to locate a BMW wheel bearing and BMW axle anyway.
