So im driving and all of a sudden my vents are shooting out cold air. 5 seconds later it sounds like someone dropped a bag of marbles in my engine, sounded like metal being grinded up.

Well i pull into the nearest parking spot, Im shitting my pants since its -20 degrees with the windchill.

Im stuck downtown for like 2 hrs before i can get home. PLus i got a ticket on my car because with my luck i ended up pulling into a 15 min parking spot.

My dad ends up taking the car to this fucking sleazy foreign car place. Turns out my water pump or something broke and my radiator fan got crushed.

Fast foward 5 days fucking later (today) and my car is supposed to be ready. We go to pick it up, dude is like "im gonna take it on a test run really quick". Im getting impatient but i shrug it off. He comes back saying that its still only shooting out cold air. Then he actually has the car in park and hes REVVING THE SHIT OUT OF THE GOTDAMN ENGINE.

Im like wtf. He actually tries giving us the car saying the heat worked. I get in, nothing but cold air shooting out once again. So now the fagot still has my car doing god knows what to it and im sitting here with no ride, pissed off because i feel like this asshole mechanic is jerking us around.

What should i do?

I have bad luck with mechanics too. Now I opt to do everything myself even if I don't know how I look it up. I'd trust myself over half the mechanics in the world. Besides, last time they got my interior all full of fucking grease and shit. I was pissed!

Sorry man. Be extremely careful who you take your car to. My mechanic is great.
If your mechanic sends you christmas cards you know you've got a good one, like mine. :wink

Good luck.

This is what you should do, quit taking your car to un-qualified scuz buckets (there are those people out there). If you want your car fixed right, take it to a certified BMW shop or the dealer.

Yes this is what i would do under normal circumstances. About a month ago we went to sears imports dealer and had my 80,000 mile tune up and had a few things fixed because my check engine light was on. However, the nearest certified dealer is at least an hour away, and the towing fee alone would be like 300 minimum.

If i had it my way i would flip the bill and go to the real dealer but my dad decided to take it to some scummy bastard. Anyway i hope everything is fixed. My dad is driving the ride home right now. Pray for my baby =(

Agreed, Dealerships only flaw is the money you spend...it may be outrageous but you get a decent, warrantied job most of the time. Also I find them to work quicker esp.when you need parts ordered since that is where other mechs will be ordering their parts too.

I've been rape for all my cash at BMW of Manhattan and most recently LIfe Quality BMW dealership in Brooklyn but at least I know when I get my car back someone is accountable for what I'm driving away in....

so IMO either DIY or Dealership....good luck...

that sucks bro!!

If the water pump broke you obviously need to replace it with the pump with the metal impellar. if you car is still shooting out cold air then you need to bleed the cooling system better. Bleed the system until your car shoots hot air while reving AND while in IDLE. You'll know when your car is properly bleed when no more bubbles come out of the bleeder screw location and the car shoots hot air in idle.

Good luck

I've had my share of shit-mechanic's... (search for my "jackpoint woes" thread) and tow truck shenanigans (winched my bumper off, another backed my car into another car and messed my rear bumper up even more) and I've come to the conclusion to where if I absolutely can't do it myself (which is a lot of the problems I'd run into, I don't have jack stands or much anything else), I have to suck it up and take it to the dealer. At least they know what they are doing and will fix it right. If not, you certainly will not feel bad bitching at them for not fixing it because they do charge up the ass

Mechanics suck! I had my car in 6 mo. ago, had them look it over, run a diagnostic, replace everything that needed to be replaced. Last night when I was driving home a belt broke off, and another one cleanly slid off. Only 6 mo. and a belt breaks? They put it on bad.

Also, they left a mess in there when I brought it in..

Yeah I agree...I rather bitch about paying too much to get shit done correct than getting shit done and paying less first then bitching about shit falling off or outta my car 6 months later...

BMWs are expensive bottom line....and the only way around that is trusted mechanics that only work on BMWs or to DIY....
