Got a OBD1 Car and want the error codes?

yea mines an obd I car so these are easier to reset with the battery trick
they often dont have a long term memory cache

With the obd 1 car to check your codes without the cable... there is a gas pedal trick. You turn the ignition to the on position and you push the gas pedal in and out completely 5 times. Your check engine light should turn off and then start flashing in sequence. You write down the sequence and there you have your code.

you have to do it kinda fast..as soon as you turn the ignition on press and release 5 times fast. You will know it works because the check engine light will begin flashing. It took me 2 or 3 times to get it to work the first time i tried too.

HAY NEWBY here but not new with bms i have a 06 330ic and a 99 328ic the problem is my 328 is putting out 4 codes #1 p0170 fuel trim bank 1 #2 po173 fuel trim bank 2 #3 p1188 fuel control bank 1 sensor 1 #4 p01189 fuel control bank 2 sensor 1 i went to oreillys to have them scan it to see if thay got the same codes thay did and told me i needed 02 sensors so i got two of them installed them same codes oreillys gave me a list to go down man i installed 2 02 sensers 1 pcv/ccv valve all ne vacume lines and seals even the one on the dip stick what do you guys think i think the mass is all thats left help lol thank you

The think with the E36 is you have 4 sensors on an OBDII car. Also if you use cheap sensors the car hates them. You need to use the genuine OEM or Bosch sensors.

One other option, is your crankcase vent hose. Not sure if you replaced it or not but some people report it solving the issue. See below:

hay my friend i am sorry i could not email you back very driving my new old car it runs like it new your never going to beleave this i cleard all codes and 2 codes keeped coming up remmber i said that i replaced all the vacume lines and the 02 sensors it ran way better so pluged in my laptop it has a scantool on it to but its way better it tells me everything this is what i got stft 1 27.34 ltft 1 0.00 stft 2 -3.13 ltft 2 0.00 im like what the hell thin i remembered reading something with the same numbers and it was the guy removed the 02 sensors at the same time and the were backwords so i unpluged the 02 s and switchged them and round and bam it ran like a top all the codes were gone i was like hells yah and she ran so good i could not beleave it there were so many vacume leeks there no clamps on any thing man i drove out to the main road i dont know if i told you i have a 5 speed manual i driped her in 1rst and punched it OMG brother she smoked the tires so easy i could not beleave it man she runs so good i cant beleave it man that was fun i think shes ready for the surpercherger now it will be here thursday yes i cant wait i need to put some pics on here and by the way thank you so much for your help ty jb
