So for the past few months I've had this vibration in my car that has been driving me nuts. I went to 2 different places and both balanced the tires for me and said everything else was OK. But it wasn't. So my last ditch effort was to take it to the dealer and have them check it out. Turns out the belt in one of the tires separated and that was the problem. I thought they were really going to nail me but they didn't. I though this may have been the problem after I took it to the first guy but at this point I don't really care. Now I just have to go back to where I bought the tires because they are still under warranty. Woo hoo!

It always feels great to find a problem and realize its not gonna cost you $500 to fix...

hey i was wondering, what is the belt tire?

my car is been doing this anoying road noise and i cant find whatswrong..

how does a separated belt tire liooks like?

You can't see it. Your mechanic will have to put your tire on a balancer to check.
I think what happens is a steel belt inside the tire somehow moves out of position.
When this happens the tire is garbage.

i had my 4 wheels rebalanced like 3 months ago, an di did them myself, i used to work at a shop and they let me use their stuff..
i had the 4 wheels perfectly balanced..

so if i balance them again, and they are totally out it is a possility right???

i know waht you mean with the steel belt, the only way to see inside is dismounting the tire from the wheel..

and on thepost, i have a road noise post with a soun dclip of my snoise, so do you mind just hearing it and letting me know if you have any clue of what is it..

I listened to your clip.
My car did not sound like that. Actually there was no noise at all, just the vibration. But I agree with Furious, you can hear the noise more with your speed so it must be something that is rotating (tires, bearing, etc.).

Hey guys, for what it's worth my wifes '01 Celica had a belt slip in the rear driver- side tire. It drove us nuts and I told my dad about it while we were home visiting.
He ran his hand over the tire from one side of the ground to the other and was able to feel the bulge where the belt slipped. We couldn't see it and we must've looked at the tire a trillion times, but we could feel it. You may want to give that a try mate.
