| Well it still runs at very low boost, only 6 psi. It produces a nice 175RWHP which is equivalent to around 200-220HP at the crank depending on what other modifications you have. There is someone who lives near me who has 240HP from this very same kit. He increased the PSI a little but has had no problems for over a year now. This is a very very reliable kit. If you're really paranoid about things breaking down, just carry a couple spare belts in the trunk, that's all you'll ever need to replace.
M50 swap isn't always the answer, neither is the USA spec M3. The best motor ever made and probably none will ever be better is the E36 328 motor (don't know it's engine code). A moderately modified (bolt-on mods) 328 could easily beat a USA spec M3, I've seen it about a hundred times. Anyways, You'll need more than just the motor. You'll need the DME and tranny, differential, suspension, clutch and exhaust, not to mention the most difficult part, custom making all the engine mounts to fit the larger motor. Actually, the most difficult part is the wiring! I would know, I've seen my mechanic swap an M50 into an E30. Did you ever think about down time? Who's going to install it for you? What happens if you get stuck, do you have another car to drive around? The DASC can be installed within 4 hours if you're experienced enough, a couple days at most if you have simple mechanical experience. Why bother with the engine swap? Unless you can get every part used and dirt cheap, it's a lot cheaper and less hassel to get the DASC. This kit actually produces more peak power and torque than the M50. In the end you're spending close to $10,000 on used parts and labour to get a stock used 325 motor installed. It's only $3000 and an extra $300 to get the DASC installed. If you want to rebuild your engine? Another $1000-$2000 at most. Sounds worth it to me. The only motors I'd ever spend money on and consider swapping into my car would be the E36 328 motor and the Eurospec M3 motor.
