get the chip last?

the only upgrades im gonna do to my engine is intake, cat back exhaust, and a chip, should i wait and get the chip last cause i heard something about you may need the chip programmed to what mods you got? i was wondering if it mattered cause i would like to get a chip first, im ready for some power my 325is just feels slow to me, i used to have a civic that would smoke my bmw before this car, i want the quickest most horsepower fast, but limited budget only allows me to purchase one item at a time

custom chips are better if you do cams and such too. the chip should do fine with just the intake and exhaust. but the chip will most likely give you the largest gain of those mods.
