hello all

just wondering will any (manual) gear knob from the bmw series fit on a 318?
i was at a bmw wrecker and the guy there said he didnt have any that fit on to a 318. even the e36 m3 wouldnt fit onto it

usually yes, right now im trying to retrofit an M5 knob with the light up top , with my current chrome and leather knob,

ur car a 6 speed or did u get a 5 speed gear. i hear the m5 has a 6 speed.

his car is probably a 5 spd, he'll just change the little thing on the top of the shifter that says all the gears on it

or he could just leave it... if it's your car it doesnt matter ... just clear up the thing if you ever let anyone else drive it.

in the meantime claim its a 7 speed MONSTER and that the 6th speed can only be used 5 times so thats why you dont use it.

what?

to be accurate all of our e36's have at least 6 gears, and the M5 shift knob i got has only six , R,1,2,3,4,5

its off a e34

so i should just go and get a new gear knob from an e46 and hammer it on to the shifter right/? it will fit perfecdtly?
