Gauges are jumping all over the place

The fuel, mpg, & tach gauges randomly jump all over the place. Sometimes it's exclusively the tach but they all go crazy and its kinda annoying.

Anyone know what the problem could be? Bad ground?

anyone have any idea what it could be? It's not even really all the gauges anymore, just the tach.

Sometimes it will be fine, then sometimes its all over the place or wayyy off. It's just so random.

Sounds like a loose connection.......you might have to remove the gauge cluster to check it.......

According to the Bentley Service Manual, no battery!


There is a self test though......

1. Turn ignition to radio position.

2. Press & hold reset button on trip-odometer until display shows numerical codes.

3. With each subsequent press of the button, a different function is tested. Some functions will activate needle gauges.

4. Turn ignition off.
