On my 316i K reg the fuse for the electic windows and central locking system keeps blowing. have put an avo across the fuse slot and I get a reading that varies between 3 - 10 Volts. Any ideas please.
Thanks for the reply Furious but, not that I know of, have just replaced the fuse with one of a higher capacity and although that has not blown the windows or central locking does not work at all now, just have to use the sunroof and hope it does not rain.
Well I unclipped the battery, left it for 10 mins, replace battery but am still getting 9-10 volts across the fuse slot and still no windows or locking, will have to check the relays under the front facia or get a big hammer and beat the living daylights out of it. Won't solve the problem but will give me on hell of a frustration release.
You have maybe a short circuit in the electric window system. Be aware of melting wires which have the risk of fire. Never put in higher capacity fuses! Look even for a mechanical problem in the door. When the window is blocking somewhere, it could also be the reason for blowing fuses.
