Hey now...
Before you guys go knocking thisa question lets think about several things... The first is that flowmaster makes an excellent quality product. The second is that it is a known fact that a cat back exhaust does not do a hell of a lot on the E36, especailly the post 95's. the third is that from what I can tell from these posts some of you can just about come up with the rent money, so saving 3-4 hundred bucks is not such a terrible thing right? I would love to know how a $200 flowmaster and a straight pipe from the cat would perform and sound versus a UUC for example. Nothing ventured nothing gained right. dont be so closed minded. there is more to life than what is in europena car mag,,LOL
I don't know about flowmaster
My friend has a Dynomax Bullet collector as his "muffler" with custom piping to it, it sounds great. A bit loud for my blood but hey it was cheap as heck and he did it all himself.

I don't think Flowmaster makes a system specific for BMW's. Their mufflers generally are not attractive and and since you can usally see a BMW's muffler it may not be the best setup. I think it would sound fine.

a muffler is a muffler is a muffler, most of you guys dont really know as much about cars as you think, all you do is read magazine after magazine and try to act like you are a mechanic or something, you are dumb for believing one brand will outperform the other, every company that makes a product uses the exact same design and materials as the last one, i dont believe in buying outrageously expensive parts that are simply the same as all the others

Wow, now i get to defend a lot of guys on this list... what a day.
You are WRONG Einstein. A muffler is not a muffler. A $20 cherrry bomb is not designed with the same thought or care as a high end muffler. do you know the difference between madrel bent and not mandrel bent? Understand the benefits of T304 stainless in the construction of a part that is subjected to some unbeleivably harsh conditions? how much knowlwdge do you have regarding sound pressure wave theory? scavenging? I read a lot of magazines.... does that make me a dumbass? I also have built more high perf engines than times you have gotten laid. So if you think a muffler is a muffler... bring it.. show some evidence.. otherwise stop insulting the entire forum with your know nothing bullshit....
Yeah there are some dumb posts but there are also a lot of good ones. most importantly forums like this help to aggregate data so that common problems can be articulated identified, defined, and addressed either by the owner him/herself or at least be armed with knowledge when they go to the dealer..
if i was talking about a cherry bomb those would of been my words, and yeah i know what im talking about and understand mandrel bent vs. bent, and i get laid at least once a day so thats a lot of motors ur building, all the exhausts for the e36 that i have looked at are all made of t304, im not stupid i know my cars, i simply asked a question if anyone has heard of someone putting on a flowmaster, never did i ask for your rambling explanations with no factual point

Uh brainfart.. go back and read your post... you didn't ask anything.. you called everyone on the list stupid.... and claimed " a muffler is a muffler is a muffler all using same design and materials. As I explained in my first response...WRONg. All high end mufflers are using stainless, not all are spec'ing T304, and plenty of lower end stiff using mild steel. (like an ANSA i beleive) I noticed you didn't comment on scavenging or sound pressure or sound wave theory, all very important in designing exhuast systems... Should i call you an idiot becuase you dont know those things? I wouldn't but according to your post maybe I should. If you think I dont have a point... go back to your post and read it again... the part where you offened every person on this forum.... Including me. then explain how we are all dumb and you are so knowe=ledgable all over again to us slow witted folks that didn't get it the first time ghead
