Just a quick question. Is an M3 front bumper a direct replacement for my 1997 318ti Compact?

yes it is. all front bumpers are suppose to be interchangeable on the e36. from what i gather the TI is no different.

I have a ti M-sport and the bumper is the same as the M-tech on my brothers 325is
should fit like a charm

the only way it wont fit is if its fiberglass. Thats a pain, buy a real one.

Yeah check those web sites out. I will probably get a genuine M3 front on eBay. Around £250 with fogs.
