Has any one removed the final drive carrier on an E36 convertable?
The rear two bolts remove fine but the front 2 are nuts and the bolt turns as soon as it loosened up. I can't get to the head of the bolt. I have the back seats removed and can't find access to these bolt heads.
Any help would be appreciated.

It's a threaded ended into the unibody of the car, that threads through the subframe then that nut and washer attach. If you don't have an impact on it you're just going to have to keep turning it till you get the top part free from the mount.

Let me try and find a picture... http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...366&hg=33&fg=30
number 5.

No problem. Glad to see somebody else with the ambition to tear apart the rear end of their car.
