Hey everyone . I am new here and let me first off say hello to everyone! I look forward to sharing information, etc. I just inherited a 1993 BMW 325 4 door. Red in color, black leather interior. Overall a nice looking car but there are a few problems.
My first problem is that the rear right passenger window wont roll down. All 3 other windows work except for that one window. Any ideas on how I should go about solving this problem? My next problem is acceleration. When driving, the acceleration sucks VERY sluggish. I mean, I floor the pedal and the acceleration is as if I am lightly pressing on the gas pedal. No take off at all. What could be the problem? My final problem is that I am going to be adding aftermarket speakers and was looking for a picture write up on how to go about doing that. BTW, why are there 2 "mini" speakers on the front door panels? I know that at least one of them (on each door) is a tweeter. But the other ones?
In case you were wondering I inherited this car from my uncle who moved out of the country and left the car to me. I currently drive a Nissan Maxima (99) and would love to fix up this BMW. I sincerely apreciate any help, info, links, etc that anyone may provide! Cheers!

first off welcome, secondly, if you havent given the car a tuneup since youve had it , i suggest doing so to clear up any problems it may have.
the window could be the motor or relay,
the two mini speakers are the tweeters.

welcome brother..... I can say that you are going to want to upgrade to speakers from the line of Harmon Kardon, or MB Quartz, as they are known for BMW's and aftermarket replacements as well as the fitment of the speakers are almost perfect.... as for acceleration, I would definitely take the car to a BMW dealership if you do NOT have a mechanical side to you with cars, as they do get complicated. Otherwise I would do a complete tune-up on the car, including new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap as that was a problem for these early model E36'rs, change the oil, filter, air filter.... along the lines your car might throw out a CEL or you might correct this with just the tune up.. whatever you do, good luck and hope you enjoy the forum...

For the windows, try swapping the window switches around to see if the window will work with a known good switch.
Also, and be careful doing this, is to slam the door hard, as this sometimes gets the window motors to start working....or if you know where the window motor is located, bang on the door panel with your hand, but don't break anything..

No power out of an engine could be any number of things. Even the catalytic converter could be stoppedup. You can pull the oxygen sensor out (before cat) and drive it to see if it greatly helps, but it'll set a check engine light before long.
Check the air filter.

Thanks for all the info. Where would you all recommend I take my car in for a tune up? I am thinking the dealer but I am afraid I may get bent over. What would the dealer charge for such a tune up? I am going to be spending the day doing a few basics, oil change, filter change, and spark plug change...Which bring me to my next question? What spark plugs do you recommend I use? I had Bosch Platnium 4 in my Maxima and I have heard that for Japanese cars, Bosch is not the way to go. But for German cars, its a . What would you use? Anyway, I aprecaite all the input I have gotten so far. Thanks again!

BTW, bimmerfan620...Where would I be able to find Harmon's and MB speakers for this car? I called Best Buy and the guy I talked to didnt know what he was doing.

Get some nice speaker replacements if you are an aduio nut, otherwise you *might* be alright depending on what's already in there, especially if your on a tight budget.
