The active matrix screen, which usually reads out the temperature and other information, located next to the clock/date readout, is malfunctioning. When the sunlight is directly on the screen the text and numbers are visible. It works properly in the sense that it puts the right information on the screen. The problem is, it's only visible when the sun is directly ontop of it. It is not visible at night time, nor during daily driving without direct sunlight. What could be wrong? Is this possibly a bulb problem? I'm not entirely sure how this type of screen works. Anyone with any information, please offer up your input. It would be highly appreciated. Thank you. :wink

Difficult to discern your problem based on that description, but it sounds like your bulb that illuminates the screen has burnt out. Maybe thiswill help you out (scroll down on the link)
my screen works, but I have certain spots on the screen that most of the time are not working, distorting what the screen says. Is this the same thing? or is my screen just completely bad??

I don't think the screen itself is replaceable. It may be though. Your best bet would be to go to the dealer and ask the parts guy for a new screen. If he can't find one on their system, then you'll need a new unit.
