Fan has fallen off!!!

Wasn't getting any hot air out of my heater yesterday. Checked my engine and realised my fan has fallen off.

The fan shaft is still there and is spinning thus still working the fan belt and water pump etc. The temp gauge also seems fine and constantly runs in a 12o'clock position after the engine has warmed up.

Does anyone know if this is bad for my car? Obviously when summer comes the fan is needed to keep the car cool but are there any other side effects?

Why would this falling off only allow cool air to run through the heating unit in the car?

Nah you just inadvertently did the fan delete mod.

It is held on there with a 22mm nut. It requires a rather thin wrench to get it on... trust me. The nut probably backed it self off... it spins opposite in direction for normal nuts.

ya its a self tightening nutt(reverse threading), whoever put it back on must have done something weird cause those never fall off...hahaha

I think he's saying that he is not getting any hot air from his vents, and would his fan falling off have anything to do with this.

KILOCHARLIE your missing fan is a separate problem from your ailing heater.
have you made sure the horizontal dial under the main vent is in the red? (aside from the temp knobs)
since your temp needle is in the middle i'm guessing the t-stat is not stuck.

imho you need to bleed the system.
