fan blowing

There is 3 differnt places the air can blow out from on the dash:
-bottom
-middle
-windshield

now they're all ment to work in combination with each other (indicated by the fact that the turning knob can be placed between any of them). but there is no way i can get the middle and windshield to work at the same time!? is something broken or is it ment to be like this? I know in my mom's lancer its not possible to get both to work together but there it is not indicated possible either!

The fully digital system can do this and any combination of the three, but hot air will always come out of the floor vents.

My floor air is adjustable... (when my digital system works that is)

Don't forget that the vent in the center of the dash has it's own controls for temperature & volume of airflow.
