Factory Alarm & Battery - BMW Forum

A quick question --- Wifes 92 has factory alarm and when we got back for 12 day vacation the battery was bascially dead. So used charger on it last night and today starts just fine. Seems that battery should stay up for longer than 12 days. Did not notice if any lights were on, but the doors we closed all the way.

Do you know how old the battery is... and what kind... ? Age might be the factor behind that...

Not sure as came with car, It is an autolite. Most likely time to put in new Interstate as winter is coming anyway.

yeah it probably has trouble holding its charge, so I would definetely replace it before the winter.

you def don't wanna wake up and have a dead battery in the winter.... u should really change it before that winter hits

for the record, dying batteries perform better in cold than in heat.

I don't find it way out of the ordinary for the battery to discharge in 12 days. If it was brand new, then I'd say you might have some issue there. City driving doesn't really keep a battery fully charged, even if there are no signs of weakness in the electrical system. There are also other things that use current while the car is not running, like the stereo.
