I have a 1995 325is (coupe) and recently i have noticed that my exhaust has been releasing a tremdous amount of emissions compared to other cars. My exhaust setup is completely stock, too, so i know it is not something i have done. Here is the situation.... when i'm out riding around and find my friends we just sit in a parking lot and hangout and talk, but since it has turned cold we sit in our cars and run the heat and just hangout and talk. Well i noticed that a my friends' cars don't smoke much, but even when i'm sitting there idling (alittle below 750 rpm) that a tremendous amount of exhaust comes around with the wind and is sort of thick. I have tried warming up the car to see if it will stop, but it still does it and a whole lot worse too. I know that on automatics this usually means that they are burning transmission fluid and that you can smell it, but this smells like rich exhaust. A friend of mine thinks it is running alittle rich. Wouldn't the OBC let me know if it was running rich or something? I have had the car for about 5 or 6 months now and it is in extremely good condition! Cosmetics wise it is near mint and engine wise runs flawlessly, although it has recently started feeling like as the rpms grow it will get a surge of power then slack for a sec and then surge the rest of the way, almost like it is flooded, so it does sound like it might be rich. How can i check and what can i do to reduce the exhaust released? My friend has a camero and he reved his up (v6) and it barely smoked as much as mine does when it is idling. LOL, this may seem like an odd post, but someone please help, thanx all in advanced. Oh also, if i need to get it repaired or anything please give me a rough estimate on the price you are talking about. Thanx in advanced. Can't wait to get this fix! |
