Yeah, are you doing something custom? The aftermarket exhaust systems are flanged like the OEM system and bolt together. The pipes are around 51mm in the rear. I know some people that have cut off the rear muffler and welded up a new one on the back. These have not worked out, way too loud.

custom.. Would need custom pipes that starts as one from muffler, then splits to 2 to bolt up. Most aftermarket ones, besides bolt on catbacks are single pipe not double like bmw muffler.

You can get mufflers with two inlets. Do a search for them. You can buy mufflers for BMW with two inlets on Ebay. You can cut the existing pipes from the back of the OEM muffler and weld these on. I'm not sure you will be happy with the results. Is your budget not allowing you to purchase a cat-back or do you just want to experiment? Anyway, as I understand it, the pipes are 51mm, just over 2".

i'd rund down to the local exaust shop, and ask one of the welders there. Get a quote on what it would take for him to make something up for you. If thats the case get him to mandrel bend some pipes for you. They can usually get pretty creative under your car. Just make sure you check his quality of work, nothing is worse than getting your exaust finally put up, just for it to leak and you to assume thats the new system. good luck bro
