Exhaust Installation As We Speak

I am about to unbolt my 328is exhaust to put up an m3, but i found this attached to the end of the second pipe at the end, it is some kind of sensor. the m3 doesnt have this..

It's a valve for reducing the exhaust noise on cruising speeds, when you accelerate it goes open for lower back pressure.

so i can get rid of it then??? or will hit kick on my SES light??

Actually I don't know if you get trouble with other systems when you get rid of it........ Sorry, maybe anyone else who knows??

ran into a snag, the hangers that are on the car now are totally useless, i guess somewhere down the line, they broke, so all that is holding the exhaust on are the flanges (or however you spell it) bolts. looks like its a trip to the dealer to get some supplies.. i will post pics when i get everything done next weekend.

getting rid of that valve wont throw any codes or trip any lights to come on. just disconnect that vacuum and let it sit behind the bumper

Once again i tried to install my m3 exhaust, but the flanges bolts are so rusted i have to take them to a mechanic to get them cut off.. i have all the hardware for the new install and my question is " the mechanic wont give me $hit about the new one not fitting" it should just bolt up right?

take it to an exhaust place, not to a mechanic... And no, he shouldn't say a darn thing about that

lol let him take it to a dealer if he wants, its his money. but true, it is just a direct bolt on, and like stated b4, its just a vacuum hose. i stuck a golf tee in mine and folded it behind the heat shield
