96/328. I have double round pipes at the back and one of them is closed. When I push, it opens up.
Two Q's.
1. When does that other pipe open (when it's too hot, cold ?? i dunno).
2. Can I just take that spring loaded door out from the pipe?
and would that make my exaust little bit free flowing.
i think he means, his exhaust is one of those which is vacuum pressured closed. i believe at high revs, the vacuum hose opens it up. us lil guys with the older cars have two exhaust tips free flowing. but the newer cars are a bit different. as for the actual question, i dont know if taking out the door will make much of a difference. you can try though and let us know yeah? lol, dont break anything though.

when i replaced my OEM exhaust, the vaccum line was left hanging (later put in a secure area) i bought the uuc TSE. anyways, it closes when your are idling to keep the noise down, but when accelerating, it opens up...it is also believed to create more back pressure to enable more lowend torque...but it has to be minimal. mostly, it is to keep the car quieter. later

This morning I thought i'll take out the spring loaded door from exuast BUT it was fully open. It was also cold outside. So I guess when it is cold (maybe outside temp is cool) it opens up. Well I did not take it off completely but put a quarter (jammed it) between pipe and the round door and now it is fully open. Will let you know. I hope it doesnt mess up my cat converter.
