not a wise idea. pin configurations are different fr ECU to ECU; mapping might be different as well.
There's a reason why you have EWS spec on your car. You deviate from that, you run the risk of shorting out other components that are outboard, and then you are screwed!
oh snaps...thanks...but then to tell the both apart....the EWS is silver labeled right...?? but does that mean that where the serial number and code label is located should be silver..??

yes.. if you took out a part with a silver label, then change tha part with the silver label as well... just ur luck, there's one on eBay just now with a $49.99 bid item # 1602245453432 ;-)
*best way is to go by the part # that you see on the label... you can't go wrong with that

good lookin darkhorse...thanks for your help....i guess mine is a EWS PROTECTED cause its a silver box the the silver serial but, i see other ecu's online and all of them look exactly like mine kind of but they have that sticker there at the bottom left hand corner but i wonder i dont have that..??
The # you should be using is the part # where you have the barcode. Go by the part # and you can't go wrong. all other labels elsewhere would maybe be stickers used for stocking, cataloging, and the like.
*you do know that you need to match your key to the ECU when installing the EWS, right?
** Can I ask why u are replacing ECU? Did it burn?... how?
