Evap Code

Sup everyone, my 1998 323is check engine light came on this morning so after work I got it read and it seemed to be an EVAP code. I removed the gas cap and placed it back on and reset the check engine. Has anyone ran into this problem? Maybe its a common thing?

Pretty common. Most of the time, checking the gas cap is the first thing we recommend peopel to do when they get the CEL and have not yet had a chance to pull the code.

polaris448 is an unknown quantity at this point
i have had a "small evap leak" forever. sometimes it goes away for like 200miles. i have had two new gas caps. no luck. i said piss on it. i am not going to bring it to the stealership (my local mechanic can't hook it up to his diagnostics) for a non drivability issue. and everytime i reset it, it takes like 400 miles for it to come back on. that is plenty enough time for the computers to come up for the gay New York obdII inspection.
