Error message and fuel gauge

Hi all,
someone hit the car badly from the back, it is 328i 95,
the problem is after the fix and all lights are back again, I got error message ont he display panel saying "TAIL LIGHT FAILURE" when I just open the lights, all bulbs are working fine but still give this error,

one more thing, After I just went to full the fuel tank, suddenly I found the Fuel gauge zero and the yellow LED on, I tried to turn off and on the car as it happened with be before but no hope, is it some known problem? or I have to change the fuel tank sensor which check the tank level?

Since you were hit in the rear, and you have TAIL LIGHT FAILURE, and ZERO Fuel on the gauge, it sounds to me that a wring harness might have been damaged in the rear. Off your fuel tank, you have the wiring for the fuel sending unit, which sends the quantitiy to the gauge. But the rear ending you received may have done something to the tank itself, thus affecting the sending unit.Maybe the rear ending knocked the electrical connector for the fuel unit, giving you a zero reading.

As far as a known problem, I don't know, but since this all came about AFTER the rear end, look at the connection for the unit.

The wierd thing now the Fuel Gauge return to work by itself I suspect after the level is not maximum now, but still the light problem, I do not know if need reset for this sending unit, how the car know the lamp is blown out? I mean the sensor for knowing that , is it voltage? or maybe wrong type of lamp is there?
